William Joseph Wells Obituary

William Joseph Wells was born March 6, 1937 to parents Gracia and Lawrence Wells in Vancouver, Washington. He spent his childhood in Washington State and northern California where his father held pastorates. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1955 and studied a year at Chapman College.

He then served in the US Navy for four years. While stationed in Japan, he met and married Judith Davis, daughter of an American missionary. They were blessed with three children.

After discharge from the service, Bill resumed his formal education at Pacific Christian College. He then committed his life to Christian service. He attended Phillips Seminary in Enid, Oklahoma earning both a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry. He served churches in Nelsonville and Findlay, Ohio. During this time in Findlay, he suffered a divorce and the death of both of his parents. The last church Bill served was in Cincinnati, OH. Around that time, he reacquainted with his high school sweetheart, Judy Del Pero. They married and enjoyed the next 16 years at Anderson Hills Church in Cincinnati. Bill hated to leave this church, but health complications forced his disability retirement. In 2003, Bill and Judy retired to Yuba City where Judy had family. They joined St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and enjoyed a loving community there. Bill suffered many health problems over the next years due to diabetes. He died December 22, 2016.

Bill was predeceased by his mother, Gracia Wells, and his father Lawrence Wells.

He leaves his wife, Judy, children Dan Wells, Kathy Baltz, Ruth Geer, George Grad, and Lara Audibert. He also leaves eight much adored grandchildren: Rebecca Wells, Andrew Wells, Cory Geer, Alex Geer, Ben Grad, Sam Grad, Ceci Audibert, and Dominic Audibert.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11am at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Yuba City. Family has asked that in lieu of flowers, any memorials be left to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1390 Franklin Road, Yuba City.
