William Merle Herrod III Obituary

William Merle Herrod III passed away in Yuba City, CA on April 7, 2015 at the age of 95 years.

Born February 17, 1920 in Berkeley, CA, he was raised in Berkeley and attended Emerson Grammar School, Berkeley High School and University of CA Berkeley. He was an engineer and entered the U. S. Navy as a lieutenant and served in the Philippines. After the war, Bill moved to Meridian, CA where he became a farmer of rice, beans and tomatoes living south of Meridian the rest of his life.

Bill was an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Colusa, CA where he served as a vestry man and church treasurer. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge, belonged to Sons In Retirement Branch 45 and a member of Military Officers Association of America Alta Chapter.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda of Meridian; step-children, Llewellyn (Tamara) Preece of Seattle, WA and Brenda (Edward) Free of Walnut Creek, CA.

Memorial services will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church 642 5th St., Colusa, CA at 11 AM, Monday, April 13, 2015. Luncheon celebration of Bill's life will follow the service at Herrod Ranch in Meridian.
