William Orion Halfhill Obituary

William "Bill" Orion Halfhill, 91, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at his home in Burkburnett, Texas and is now reunited with his loving wife of 54 years, Jessie Rae Halfhill.

Bill was born January 6, 1927 in Yuba City, California to Franklin Silas Halfhill and Lillian Byer Halfhill. He attended school and worked most of his life in Yuba City and later in Colusa, California. After retiring, Bill and Jessie lived in Paradise, California, Chico, California, and Burkburnett. He served in the Merchant Marines on the Peter Moran and Ralph A. Cram during WWII. He owned Halfhill Distributing Company for 20 years and then sold parts and equipment for Valley Truck and Tractor, Ambac Equipment Company and Case International Harvester.

Bill enjoyed playing baseball, softball, bowling, fishing, boating and camping. He also enjoyed watching sports, square dancing, gardening and spending time with family. Bill was truly loved by his friends and family and will be deeply missed.

Bill was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, William Halfhill; his daughters, Glenda Winfree, and Patsy McCurry; and his siblings, Dorothy McGee, Louise Blankinship, and Gene Halfhill.

He is survived by his children, Carol Lynn Henley of North Bend, Oregon, Maribeth and John Forsyth of Santa Rosa, California, and Kathy and Keith Maxwell of Burkburnett; his siblings, Marjorie Mitchel of Chico, California, and Janet and Robbie Smith of Paradise, California; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Burkburnett with Pastor Liz Talbert and Pastor Lydia Pellikan, officiating. ~Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
