James Robert Mann passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 17, 2014 at age 69. He was born in Elizabeth City, NC, on January 9, 1945 and spent most of his life there. Submarine construction at the Norfolk Ship Yards in Virginia was his occupation for 30 years. He moved to Yuba City in 2007 to be near his brother.
The Guest Book is expired.
James is survived by his brother, Ronald Mann (Mary) of Yuba City, CA; sister, Evelyn Mann of Kinston, NC; sister-in-law, Brenda Bray of Norfolk, VA; Margaret Mann of Severn, MD; and Judy Mann of Avon, IN, and many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Effie Mae Mann; beloved wife, Norma G. (Bray); brothers, George, Richard and Wade Mann and sister, Audrey Ray Mann.
James enjoyed fishing and watching football with his brother and fun times with his nieces and nephews. His southern warmth and hospitality made him a favorite person among his new friends in Yuba City. Fellow Southerners would often say his friendliness reminded them of "the folks back home." He lived the last few years of his life at Yuba Skilled Nursing, where he received the same kindness and hospitality he had given to so many people.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Lipp & Sullivan Funeral home in Marysville. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at Sutter Cemetery.
