Joy Janelle Hurdle, 87, of Yuba City, California passed away on June 18, 2014. She was the daughter of Alfred and Bernice Wright. Joy attended high school in Sharon, Wisconsin. Joy met Albert, her husband of sixty years in Colorado at an USO dance. Albert was stationed at Camp Carsen. Joy and Albert were married in October 1952 in Denver, Colorado and returned to California to build a home in Yuba City.
Joy was a member of the Yuba City Women's Club, and later the Yuba City Senior Women's Club playing lots of tables of bridge. She was a campfire leader for her daughters group. Joy was an excellent seamstress, and taught the campfire girls how to sew their first dress. She and Al square danced and played couples bridge with many good friends. Joy was a member of the Rideout hospital pink ladies auxiliary volunteering many years at the pink trunk and hospital gift shop.
Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Albert and is survived by her three children, Karen, Brian, and David, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, June 30, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Lakeside Colonial Chapel, Marysville, California, with graveside at Sutter Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at the Harvest Room (New Earth Market shopping center) 1475 Tharp Road, Yuba City.
