Evan John Pippin
The Guest Book is expired.
Evan John Pippin, 69, of Sutter passed away peacefully February 6, 2013. He was born December 10, 1943 in Gabbs, Nevada and moved to Sutter with his family at age 9. Evan was a 60 year resident of Sutter County and a graduate of Sutter Union High School. After 36 years of service, Evan retired from the State of California, Water Resources Department, where he was a Supervisor in flood management.
Evan was an avid, life-long outdoor sportsman. From taking his granddaughters striper fishing on the Feather River to deep-sea fishing with his daughter in Alaska, Evan was most at home outdoors surrounded by family. From deer hunting with his son and brother in NV and moose and elk hunting in Wyoming to pheasant hunting with family on Sutter County rice checks and levees, Evan was lucky enough to live his passion for the natural world.
In 1990, he was appointed to the Sutter County Fish & Game Advisory Board. A competitive sportsman from an early age, Evan held the record for low hurdles at Sutter Union HS for several decades.
Evan was a tremendously dedicated father, grandfather & brother. He cherished his grandchildren and was always ready to drive hours to serve as babysitter-in-chief.
His living room served as a child care center for many years to his own family as well as members of his extended family. Evan touched many lives with his generosity and unyielding support.
Evan is survived by his brother and sister-in- law, Roger and Dawn Pippin, his sons Richard Pippin & Martin McNerney of Yuba City, his daughters Deborah Pippin (Gregory Stangl) of San Francisco and Charlotte Brandwood (Art Brandwood) of Live Oak, his grandchildren Kayla and Ashley Brandwood, and Evan, Meyer and Linden Stangl.
Evan is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Pippin, father Earl Pippin, mother Lillian Pippin and brothers Eldon and Bruce Pippin.
