Jesus Rodriguez Herrera (Papi), 86, beloved father and grandfather/great grandfather passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 27th, 2013. |
He was born in Durango, Mexico on July 15, 1926. In 1956, he came to the United States during the Bracero Program to work as a farm laborer. Jesus was a migrant farm worker who in early 1960's bought a home for his family in Linda. He eventually became a farm labor contractor and a proud owner of an olive ranch in Corning.
Jesus was a hard worker and when he was not working in the fields, he enjoyed working in his garden tending to his farm animals.
Jesus is survived by his wife of 56 years, Demetria Herrera. He is survived by his five children, Dolores Herrera-Bernal (Rudy), Concepcion Sanchez (Hector), Jesus Herrera, Jr. (Heather), Hugo Herrera, of Yuba City, and Ana Maria Herrera of Sacramento. Seven grandchildren, Christi Banuelos-Miller (Adam), Trinidad Banuelos Jr. (Rina), Sebastian Herrera (Jessie), Lamira Herrera, Hector Sanchez, Jr. of Yuba City including Chelise Herrera and Xochitl Hernandez of Sacramento. Seven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his infant children, Luis and Juanita Herrera.
A private gathering for family is planned in the near future.
