Let it be known that Ernest Speckert Sr. passed away peacefully on 8 June 2013 at the age of 91. Born 9 Dec 1921, Ernest moved to the United States in 1924 when his family immigrated from Switzerland. A graduate of Marysville High School and a WW2 veteran, Ernest's family farmed in Yuba County and started a sawmill and lumberyard in Linda after WW2, which operated for 30 years until being sold to Diamond International.
In retirement, Ernest enjoyed traveling with his wife Beverly to Elderhostel programs & tending his orchard, garden and home landscaping. He maintained close ties with his siblings and relished his status as eldest in the family.
A devoted husband and cherished father, Ernest was preceded in death by his parents Armin Sr and Martha Speckert, his sister Clara Stuermer, his first wife Mary Jarvis Speckert, and second wife Beverly Wilson Speckert.
He is survived by his sister Olga Stewart, brothers Leo, Armin and Otto Speckert of Y.C., his children Ernest Jr, Robert and Marilyn Fenn of Santa Cruz, CA, and Trecia Kam of Olympia, WA, grandchildren Sean and Corinne Speckert, Rosann and Maureen Speckert, Rachel and Jackie Fenn, all of Santa Cruz.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 PM on 22 June 2013 at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond Street, Yuba City, CA followed by a reception at his Teesdale Court house.
