Willie James Williams
Willie James Williams passed a way peacefully at his home on July 3, 2013 with family by his side. He died at the age of 60 after fighting a two year battle with cancer. He was born in Marysville, CA, and lived in the Yuba-Sutter area all his life.
He loved boating, camping, riding his horse, BBQs with family and friends at his home, swimming and playing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed dinner at Red Lobster and a stop at the casino to play his favorite 7's machine.
He worked as a warehouseman for YCUSD, retiring in 2006 after 26 years of service. He served in the US Army for six years, where he received numerous awards including the air medal, a bronze star and a combat infantry badge from his tour in Vietnam.
He was a member of the Yuba County Sheriff Mounted Posse, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and he enjoyed volunteering his time with the Yuba-Sutter Stand Down organization helping fellow vets.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Lorraine Williams; daughters: Theresa Perkins (Nolan) and Jamie Williams, sons: Willie Williams Jr. (Crystal), Erik Ginorio (Cecilia), Gabriel Ginorio (Katie); 10 grandchildren; and two sisters: Shirley Johnson and Brenda Thompson.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie A. Williams and Colleen Hornbrook.
Services will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel; viewing Tuesday, July 9th from 4-7PM. Memorial service Wednesday, July 10th, at 11AM. A reception to follow at his home.
