Ellen Wheeler passed away peacefully on September 10, 2013, at the age of 91. Born Ellen Jane Bird on January 9th, 1922 in Kanosh, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, David Wallace Wheeler and her younger brother, Charles William Bird.
She met her husband in Riverside, California and they were later married at Mountain Home Air Force Base outside of Boise, Idaho on March 28th, 1942. Their mutual love of traveling took them all over the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
Ellen has been a resident of the Yuba Sutter Area since 1960 and a proud member of Alpha Sigma Sorority, Gamma Chapter. She was an active member of the Children's Home Society, both in Woodside and Yuba City. As an avid reader, Ellen was a lifelong learner and was always well informed on world affairs. She had an eye for design and an exquisite sense of fashion.
Survivors include 2 sons, David Wallace Wheeler Jr. and Michael Charles Wheeler, both of Yuba City, 9 grandchildren, Lisa Shelton, Dr. John Green, Joey French, Jake Wheeler, Samantha Geweke, Annie Wheeler, Margo Wheeler, Ryan Wheeler, and Cole Wheeler, and 5 great- grandchildren, Clark, Kelsey, Robby, Carson, and Kate.
She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great- grandmother and aunt. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Ellen was a firm believer in education and was also a breast cancer survivor.

A family graveside service and burial will take place at Sutter Cemetery.
