Dorothy Hunter was born December 5, 1921 in Toppenish, Washington, to parents Sylvester and Alma Dosser and departed life on February 10, 2014.
Dorothy attended Robbins Elementary School where she met Don Hunter. They both graduated from Yuba City High School in 1940 and married later that year. They were happily married for 62 years before Don's passing.
Their two daughters, Carolyn and Jane, were their pride and joy. Dorothy was an excellent seamstress who made beautiful dresses for the girls. She was a stay-at-home mom who created a warm, loving home for her family.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters Carolyn (Ron) Center and Jane (Duane) Myers; grandchildren Bob (Christine) Myers, Dawn (Gary) Higgins, Kevin Williams, and Monty (Lori) Center, and great-grandchildren Mallory & Dylan Myers, Kody & Summer Williams, Marissa & Shelbie Lees, Courtney Schmall, and Mia and Anna Center.
Dorothy has a brother Donald Dosser and a sister Nellie Clark both of Live Oak. She is predeceased by brothers Ira and Clarence Dosser and sister Hazel Palmer. Dorothy and her family were self-taught musicians who spent countless hours having fun and making music. She is loved by many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a member of the Knights Landing Methodist Church and worshipped at Grace Methodist Church for over 30 years.
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service at the Sutter Cemetery on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Donna Van Maanen of Grace Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
