Janice Carlson
Janice Rose Marie (Grzadzieleski) Carlson, age 86, of Drayton, ND, died April 29, 2013, in Dickinson, ND. Janice was born May 8, 1926, in Walsh County, ND, the daughter of Richard Grzadzieleski and Demerise (Fortier) Grzadzieleski. She grew up, attended school, and spent her adult life in Drayton, ND. She worked at the Drayton Hospital, Drayton Drug, and Drayton Telephone Company in addition to seasonal farm work. Janice was united in marriage on November 2, 1953, to Dallas Glenn Carlson at Crookston, MN. Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Janice's greatest talent was reflected in her love for cooking and baking, her kitchen being her domain. She loved gardening and entertaining. She was an avid dancer. Janice was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children: Wayne (Carol) Grzadzieleski, Drayton, ND; Dallas (Ramona) Carlson, Dickinson, ND; Nicolette (Randy) Haskins, Buffalo, MN; Kameron (Nancy) Carlson, Sioux Falls, SD; sisters Adrienne Hennlich, Medford, WI; Claris (Carl) Peterson, Carmel, CA; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dallas, in 1990; daughter, Glenda Carlson in 1986; brother, Harris Grzadzieleski; and grandson, Richard Grzadzieleski.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, May 4, 2013 in St. Edward's Catholic Church at Drayton. Interment was in Drayton City Cemetery, Drayton. Fr. Joseph Okogba, and Deacon Dallas Carlson, presiding; Earlene Lasch, organist. Honorary pallbearers will be James Evenson, Donald Bates, Dan Rudnick, LaVern Zimmerman, Karl Carlson and Hector Beauchamp. Casket bearers will be Cole Haskins, Dustin Haskins, Shane Herseth, Jake Preston, Dwayne Grzadzieleski and Dallas R. Carlson. An online guest book is available at: www.austinfuneralchapel.com
