Wayne Quam
Volga, SD - Wayne Quam, age 76, died at Brookings Health System Hospital on March 16, 2013.
He was born near Sinai, SD on March 14, 1937 to John and Bertha (Thompson) Quam. He married Marie Doty on December 26, 1957 at Pipestone, MN.
She preceded him in death on August 30, 2012.
He is survived by two brothers - Dale (Mary) of Cranston, RI and Ray (Marilyn) of Sioux Falls. Several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded by his parents, a sister - Joyce and a brother - Ronald and a daughter- Jeanne in 1981.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD with Rev David Schoeld officiating. Burial will be in West Sinai Cemetery, Sinai, SD.
He grew up on a farm South of Sinai. He moved to California as a young man where worked heavy construction building dams, bridges and roads. In the early 1970's he moved back to farm South of Sinai. He also worked construction and dug graves at the West Sinai Cemetery. He was a member of the Sinai Lutheran Church until they moved to Volga in 2004 when he joined First Lutheran Church in Brookings.
The family will be present at 5:30 PM on at Weiland Funeral Chapel in Madison, SD which is in charge of the arrangements.
