Clayton L. Bakke
Bakke, Clayton L., passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2013, at the age of 86. He was born on December 8, 1926, and was raised through high school graduation in Brandon So. Dakota, and became an avid hunter and fisherman. He was married to Beverly Zweep on December 10, 1947 in Sioux Falls, So. Dak., and moved his family to Orange County CA in 1956, where he began a postal career. He was a retired Postmaster of Santa Ana, CA., and manager of 22 other post offices in Orange County from 1976 to 1984. He was the first non-political postmaster promoted under the merit system in Santa Ana, Ca. He was also a WWII veteran. His passions were Jazz and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beverly, and their seven children; David (Laura) Bakke of Tucson, AZ; Daniel (Devon) Bakke of Bellingham WA; Douglas Bakke of Sedro Woolley WA; Deanna Bakke of Spring TX; Dannette (Herbert) Barnes of Spring, TX; Darren Bakke of Orange, CA; Drew (Amy) Bakke of Spring TX; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by son Dean Bakke and daughter-in-law Karan Bakke.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1510 N Parton St. Santa Ana, CA on Friday August 16th, at 10:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Peter Lutheran Memorial fund, or Mary's Kitchen, 517 Struck Ave, Orange Ca., 92867 (www.maryskitchen.org).

My most heartfelt condolences to the Bakke family, I will miss sharing lunch with Clayton, Beverly and the Ruiz family. I will also miss our telephone chats. Clayton had a fantastic memory. His wit always lifted my spirits. God Bless You and comfort you.

Dear Bev and the wonderful 7 D's, I am thinking of you this week also and praying for memorable talks and some laughter as you visit there about Clayton. I am pleased that you, Bev, have someone close by. God will be close to you all thro these times. He has been very close and helpful to me since Clair's passing. God is good always.
