Obituaries from the Past Three Days

Larson, Mabel
Mabel Larson Mabel Larson, Sioux Falls, SD, died May 19, 2016, at Good Samaritan Village. She was 78. Mabel May (Hammond) Larson was born October 22, 1937, in Napoleon, ND, to John and Eva (Osborn) Hammond. Following her formal education, she stared her life long career at Northwest Bell, now Quest, as a telephone operator. She was united in marriage with Duane Larson on June 8, 1969 in Mobridge, SD. She continued her career with the phone company, and at the same time became active as Duane's partner in ministry. In 1969, the couple moved to Boyd, MN, where she continued her career. Seven years later, their path led them to Warner, SD for two years. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1978, where Mabel continued her career at the phone company. After retiring in 1997, Mabel was honored to receive an award for her perfect attendance over 38 and a half years. Mabel remained a true partner in ministry with Duane, supporting him in many aspects of the ministry. Mabel enjoyed baking; and her time to really shine was Christmastime, when she baked for the appreciative residents of the Good Samaritan Village. Giving and compassionate, she always thought of others first. Mabel was truly blessed with a giving spirit. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Duane Larson, Sioux Falls, SD; sisters, Shirley Wilcox, Brookings, SD, Lucille Johnson, Bismarck, ND, Luella Peterson, Indianapolis, IN; brothers, Glenn Hammond, Jonesboro, AR, Allen Hammond, Napoleon, ND, Robert Hammond (Iris), Napoleon, ND; and her nieces and nephews. Committal Services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at the Hills of Rest Columbarium. Memorial Services will follow at 2:00 Wednesday afternoon at the Chapel of Good Samaritan Village.
