David Grav David Grav, 53, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at St. Mary Hospital in Rochester, MN. His Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Kahler Funeral Home. The family will be present at 6:00 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. A Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary will be prayed following the Wake. Dave is survived by his wife, Vickie of Dell Rapids; his sons, Brodie (Brianna) of Dell Rapids, Kyle of Austin, TX, and Kaleb of Dell Rapids; his daughter, Missy (Clint) Schull of Dell Rapids; his grandchildren, Bryana, Jade, Ethan and Brecken; his parents, Peter and Arlene Grave; his brother, Steve (Cindy) Grav; and his sister, Joan (Leo) Glabb, all of CA. www.kahlerfh.com

Lillian M. Hahn Lillian M. Hahn, 92, of Sioux Falls died Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Sanford/USD Medical Center. Family present visitation will be 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm with a Service of Sharing beginning at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 30 at Miller Funeral Home-Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave. Memorial service will be 1:30 pm Monday August 31, at First United Methodist Church, 401 S. Spring Ave. Private family burial will be held at Benton Lutheran Cemetery, rural Crooks, SD. Lillian Mae Johnson, daughter of Joseph E. and Elsie (Borjesson) Johnson, was born August 17, 1923 at the family farm in Hartford Township, SD. She attended Johnson District 54 Country School and Hartford High School. She received a diploma from Radio-Telephone-Operator's School in Minneapolis, MN. She worked for the Agronomy Department at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD for one winter. She returned to the family farm to help in the fields while her father worked for AAA of South Dakota. She also worked as a secretary for the County Extension Agent and Benedict and Oosterhuis Brokerage. Lillian was happiest while working outside. Lillian was united in marriage with John "Johnny" Hahn on September 9, 1952 at Eastside Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. When her son, Mike was born she stayed home to be a homemaker until he was in high school when she began working as a secretary for Sullivan's Inc. Wholesale Gifts. She retired from there in 1988. Lillian and Johnny were active members of First United Methodist Church where they served as communion stewards for many years. She was a member of Chapter I of P.E.O. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Mike (Lori) Hahn, Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Sara Hahn and Michael (Elizabeth) Hahn and their son, William, all of Sioux Falls, SD; a very special niece, Cindy (John) Schlimgen, Sioux Falls, SD; a sister-in-law, Helen Hahn, Orland, CA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; her parents; two sisters and husbands, Helen and Les Zeller, Edythe and Merritt Blow; and one brother Harland Johnson. Hamik, Lylla  
Lylla Hamik Lylla Marie (Smith) Hamik, 95, died in her home at Avera Prince of Peace Retirement Community on August 26, 2015. Lylla, daughter of Ernest and Mable (Ostberg) Smith, was born December 15, 1919 in Ravinia, SD. Lylla graduated from Ravinia High School in 1937, received her teaching certificate from Springfield Normal, and taught children of all grades in a one-room country school house for two years in East Howard School District in Charles Mix County. Lylla married Victor Hamik on April 17, 1942. During Lylla and Vic's nearly 43 years of marriage, most of which they lived in Lake Andes, SD, they were blessed with five children: Ernest (Chin Hamik) of Lawton, OK; Victoria (Gene Boelter) of Alta, IA; Mary (Gordon Linden) of Genoa, NE; Carole (Dean Nasser) of Sioux Falls, SD; and Paul (Candy Hamik) of Aberdeen, SD. Lylla was always a "working" mother. She worked in the Charles Mix County Treasurer's Office serving as County Treasurer for one term during her 15 years in that office. She later worked in the Lake Andes City Finance Office serving as both the Finance Officer and the Assistant Finance Officer during her ten years in that office. She also was very active in her children's lives, attending all their church and school activities and serving on various committees at the school, including 12 years as Band Parent Treasurer. She was an active member of Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, and St. Mark's Catholic Church, where she served as Special Eucharistic Minister. Widowed in 1985, Lylla retired in 1989 when she moved to Sioux Falls to live near family. At age 69, she learned to drive in a bigger community and lived independently for another 20 years. She was an active member and volunteer at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, a volunteer of the month at Sanford USD Medical Center, a regular volunteer at Avera McKennan Hospital, an active member of an exercise group at Sanford Wellness Center, and she made many new friends in her new community. She moved to Avera Prince of Peace apartments in 1997 and enjoyed life within that retirement community until her death. Lylla is survived and missed by her five children, 13 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, two sisters - Betty Bren of Hillsboro, OR, and Norma Bere of Newark, CA - and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 pm Friday August 28, at the chapel in Prince of Peace, 4513 Prince of Peace Place, with the family present at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Ave. from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 am Saturday at The Cathedral of St. Joseph. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Andes. In appreciation for the nearly 18 years that Lylla lived in the loving care of Avera Prince of Peace Retirement Community, memorials may be sent to Avera McKennan Foundation, P.O. Hammond, Lois Marion  
Lois Marion Hammond Lois Marion (Eckhardt) Hammond, 71, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Dougherty Hospice House after a 20 month battle with cancer. Lois was born September 21, 1943 at Blue Earth, MN to Elmer and Ida (Berndt) Eckhardt. She grew up on a farm east of Blue Earth. She graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1961. After graduation she moved to Albert Lea, MN where she was employed as a secretary for Universal Milking Machine Co. In 1963 she moved to Rochester, MN and was employed by the MAYO Clinic as a receptionist. Lois was united in marriage to Dean C. Hammond on August 8, 1964 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Emerald Township, Blue Earth, MN. The couple resided in Albert Lea, MN where she was employed by Albert Lea Medical and Surgical Center as a receptionist until 1968. In 1975 she joined the family business, Cardinal Canvas Products, Inc. as the Chief Financial Officer. While working full time she attended Austin Community College from 1979 to 1981. She took classes in business law, economics, European History and her favorite was Art History. In 1993 Lois and her husband, Dean moved their home and business to Sioux Falls, SD. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. The grandchildren were the love of her life. Lois enjoyed gardening, sewing for the grandchildren and home, the challenge of the stock market and playing cards. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. She was involved with the LWML, Alter Guild and served as an officer for several groups and projects through the years. Dean and Lois enjoyed traveling to Europe, Canada, Alaska and driving along the west coast also visiting many states. They were also members of the Sno-Trackers Snowmobile Assoc. and enjoyed spending time in the Black Hills area. As much fun as it was to travel they always cherished coming back home. Their home was filled with the aroma of freshly baked apple pie and chocolate chip cookies. Grateful for sharing her life is her husband, Dean and 3 children, Jane (Darin) Steffen of Sioux Falls, SD, John (Nancy) Hammond of Sioux Falls, SD, Beth (Kevin) Neil of Sartell, MN; and 6 grandchildren, Katherine and Mary Steffen, Michael and Sarah Hammond and Christen and Beckett Neil; her sister, LouAnn Ogilvie of Rochester, MN and brother, Paul Eckhardt of Duluth, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Carol Eckhardt and 3 brothers, Norman Eckhardt, Leo Eckhardt and Wayne Eckhardt. A celebration of life will be 11:00am Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation will begin 2:00pm Friday, August 28th at Heritage Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm. www.heritagesfsd.com
