Arthur Noordermeer

Arthur Noordermeer, age 88, passed away on Monday December 30, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center. Public visitation begins at 1:00 pm, with the family greeting friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday, January 2 at Miller Funeral Home, 13th & Main Ave. Funeral services begin at 10:30 am Friday at Harrisburg United Methodist Church, with military honors and burial following the service at Pleasant View Cemetery in Harrisburg.

Arthur Noordermeer, son of Jacob and Adriaantje Noordermeer, was born February 23, 1925 in rural Centerville, SD. He grew up and received his education in the Harrisburg, SD area. As a young man he worked for various farming operations. Art then entered the Army serving during WWII. After his military duty he returned home and began working at John Morrell and Company. He later worked for the local Russco Window Company before beginning his 30 year career with the North American Car Corporation.

On February 24, 1962 he was united in marriage to Doris Hill in Harrisburg. The couple settled in Sioux Falls where they raised their two sons. Art retired in 1985.

He was a long time member of the Harrisburg United Methodist Church, and a member of the Harrisburg American Legion.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Doris, a son, Mark (Tammy) Noordermeer, and 2 grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob Noordermeer, all of Sioux Falls, as well as sister-in-law Betty, of Rapid City.

His parents, son Greg, a brother William and sister Linda Sailer, preceded him in death.
