Eleanore Wierschke, 82, of Sioux Falls died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at her residence.
Eleanore A. Hansen was born in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up in New York where she received her education. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she attended Lutheran Bible Institute.
On June 26, 1954, she was united in marriage with Russell Wierschke in Minneapolis, MN. Throughout her life, she and Russell served together in the ministry throughout Minnesota North and South Dakota. They served parishes in Karlstad, MN, Maddock ND, McIntosh, MN, Big Fork, MN, Middle River, MN, Newfolden, MN, Badger, MN, Detroit Lakes, MN, Puposky, MN, Rosholt, SD, Sioux Falls, SD, Dimock, SD, and Tripp, SD. Her husband preceded her in death on June 18, 1991. Eleanore retired from the ministry two years ago. She loved the people she served and the people were very touched and blessed by the ministry she gave them.
She loved family vacations that often ended up going from coast to coast. The joy of the Lord and her love for God and family sustained her throughout her life.
Grateful for having shared her life and her wonderful sense of humor are her children, Gail (Paul) Syverson of Baltic, SD, along with their children, Angela (Isaac) Schmeling, Alison Syverson and Amanda Syverson; her sons, Gary (Amy) Wierschke and their daughter Melissa, of Detroit Lakes, MN and Greg Wierschke of Sioux Falls, SD. She is also survived by two great grandchildren; and a very special family friend, Mary Jo Whittle, of Brandon, SD.
In addition to her husband, Eleanore was predeceased by her parents; and one sister, Lillian Fjeldal.
Funeral Services will begin 1:00 pm Wednesday at First Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Roselund Cemetery, Badger, MN. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:30 to 7:30 pm Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location.
