Gregory A. "Greg" Peterson

Gregory A. Peterson, 68, passed away on March 17, 2014. Greg was born Oct. 28, 1945 in Sioux Falls, where he lived his entire life. A graduate of Washington High School, he earned his bachelor's degree from Augustana College and MBA at the University of South Dakota. Greg managed the family oil business, served in the South Dakota State Legislature in the 1970s and was a Minnehaha County Commissioner in the '80s. He also served as Exalted Ruler for the Elks Lodge. Greg also managed Job Service of South Dakota before retiring in 2001, and for the last years of his life, he owned and operated the Grider-Peterson Land Company.

Quick with a joke and a laugh and a natural storyteller, Greg (better known as Par Pete) enjoyed golf, spending time at Lake Okoboji, Monday night bowling league, trips to Jamaica with Jim Sullivan & Co., reading, sports, and time with friends and family. Survived by daughter Megan (John) of Minneapolis; son Ryan; grandchildren Presley and Flynn; brother Randy; sister-in-law Sharon; nieces Angie, Paige and Emily; and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarion and Della and brother Tim.

Visitation will begin at 8 am with the family present from 4 to 6 pm on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Miller Funeral Home, 13th & Main. A celebration of his life with take place on Friday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home. Memorials to the YMCA of Sioux Falls.
