H.C. (Ike) Eichman

H.C. (Ike) Eichman, 85, Mitchell, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 9:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Military graveside services will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 - 8:00 PM with a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Henry Clair Eichman was born in Junius, SD on May 26, 1928 to Henry and Elizabeth (McCool) Eichman. He moved to Mitchell in 1942 and attended Notre Dame High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1946 and served in the Aleutian Islands on Adak with the Navy Seabees and was honorably discharged in 1948.

He married Dolores Mackey on December 27, 1948 in Mitchell. He worked for REA, Schwans Electric, Stedman Grocery, National Food Store and was then a sales representative for Nabisco for 34 years.

He is survived by his wife Dolores, a son Mark (Cheryl) Eichman, three daughters Lynn (Jerry) Metcalf, Laurie (Lou) Cooper and Mary Eichman, all of Mitchell. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sisters Jeanne Miller of Mitchell and Noreen Boomsma of Appleton, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Herb and Bob Eichman and a sister Marcella Kelly.
