God calls his children home when they are suffering and can no longer battle catastrophic illness.
On Wed., January 8, 2014, at 10:57 p.m., Katharine Miller of Gilbert, Arizona, went home to our Lord after a long and difficult illness.
She was a sweet, soft-spoken, kind, generous person who was full of life and love. She could also be a fortress in the face of life's challenges. She enjoyed the outdoors, pets, reading, history, movies, theater, travel and all the good things life offered.
Katharine was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and moved to Faribault, Minnesota, with her parents, Ardyce and Keith Miller. She attended the University of Mankato, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. After moving to Arizona in the early 1980s, she obtained her Masters of Business Administration degree. She worked hard and had a successful career in business finance while residing in Scottsdale and later in Gilbert, Arizona.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ardyce and Keith Miller, who lived in Mesa and Show Low, Arizona. She is survived by her companion and domestic partner of 12 years, Jared M. Boynton of Gilbert Arizona who would say, "She was the only person I've met in my life strong enough to keep me grounded, but wise enough to let me spread my wings in creative pursuits". She is also survived by many relatives around Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and friends in both Arizona and Minnesota. She will forever be remembered for the incredible times, vacations and those amazing moments that we all have shared with someone who is truly special. No doubt her departure from this world will leave a hole in its heart that can never be filled. God speed Kathy.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, January 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 507 South Main Avenue, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There will be a reception after the service, followed by interment at Beaver Valley Lutheran Cemetery in Valley Springs, South Dakota.
