Marilyn Olhausen, 71, of Sioux Falls, SD died Sunday May 5, 2013 in Mesa, AZ after a long battle with cancer. Marilyn Joy Buss was born on Sept. 7, 1941 to John and Celia Buss in Evart MI. She graduated in 1959 from Evart High School and in 1961 from Lansing Business University in Lansing, MI. She married Gary Olhausen on July 22, 1967.
Marilyn lived for 20 years in Luverne, MN where she and her husband Gary owned the John Deere dealership. After retiring in 1994 and moving to Sioux Falls, she was a hospice volunteer for 10 years and active in many community events. The past 11 years she split her time between their homes in Sioux Falls and Mesa, AZ to be near her children and grandchildren. She dearly loved her two children, but her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Although she loved all her grandchildren very much, she took great pride in telling people about the influence she had in raising her granddaughter Shay and the special relationship they had. She honored Shay one last time by passing away on Shay's 22nd birthday.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Gary of Sioux Falls, two children, son Lance of Savage, MN. and his daughter Lexy; daughter Lainie Ring of Anthem, AZ. and her three children: Shay (Patrick) Murphy, Rochelle, and Nathan; and brother John Buss of Mason, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Virginia Ingram.
Marilyn's wish was to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later time.
