Sioux Falls, SD ~ Meryle Elois Lodermeier, 92, died on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Meryle Elois Jensen was born on November 21, 1920 in Worthington, Minnesota to Alfred and Mabel (Horst) Jensen. She was raised on a farm in Nobles County in Minnesota. As a young girl she received her grammar school education in a one room schoolhouse. She spent her high school years living in and working at a boarding house so she could attend Worthington High School. She graduated 1938 and was Salutatorian. Meryle then furthered her education at a business college in Minneapolis, MN where she earned her degree. Meryle spent the next few years working as a bookkeeper for a steel company in Minneapolis.
On April 26, 1942, Meryle was united in marriage with Eugene James Lodermeier in Worthington, MN. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls and was blessed with three children. Meryle worked for a local printing company before spending 35 years helping run the family businesses which included Sioux Falls Taxidermy. Eugene retired in 1979 and Meryle was office manager for the next eight years at Cliff Haugan Construction Company. Until her death she helped her son manage the family rental properties.
She took great pride in her community and was a very involved member of East Side Lutheran Church, The Izaak Walton League, Grandmothers Girl Scouts, and Civilian Conservation Corps.
She enjoyed playing the piano and teaching her siblings the Alphabet. Above all she loved her family and spending summers at Lake Campbell. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three children, Gene Lodermeier, Sioux Falls, Barbara (Robert E.) Anderson, Sioux Falls and Ronna (Richard) Gould, Brookings, SD; four grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa) Anderson, Sioux Falls, Amanda Anderson, Sioux Falls, ReJeanne (Michael) Lehron, Janesville, WI, and David Gould, Brookings; three great grandchildren, Brandon (Allyson) Lehron, Krysta Lehron and Kelsey Lehron; and three great-great grandsons, Masyn, Jayden and Damen; one brother, Myron Jensen, Sioux Falls; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from California to Duluth.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eugene; two brothers, Lester and Waldo Jensen; and one sister, Lucille Obermolller.
