Cheryl F. Johnson, 52, of Sioux Falls, died peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2016 surrounded by her family after a courageous four year battle with cancer.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 1, at Miller Funeral Home-Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Ave.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 2, at First Lutheran Church, 327 S. Dakota Ave., with interment at Hills of Rest Cemetery. Please join the family in wearing Cheryl's favorite color, Pink!

Cheryl Faye Markman, daughter of Ronald T. and Clara J. (Hayanga) Markman, was born November, 25, 1963 in Worthington, MN. She grew up there where she worked at the movie theater during high school, she graduated from Worthington High School in 1982. She attended Pipestone (MN) Vo-Tech where she earned her degree in Commercial Tailoring. While in Pipestone, she met her future husband, Tom.

Cheryl was united in marriage with Thomas S. Johnson on September 22, 1984 in Worthington, MN. They lived in Pipestone until moving to Rapid City, SD in 1985, where she worked for Braun's Clothing, in addition she opened her own business called The Tailor Shop, which she operated out of her home. Tom's career took the family to Huron, SD in 1995. In Huron, she began working for Eilers Furs, she continued her home business. In 1999, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD where Cheryl was a professional tailor at Normans Menswear for 13 years.

She was very family focused and loved being with her family, and took great pride in her children's lives and accomplishments. Tom's involvement with Shrine and Mason activities provided an active social life, which brought her great joy, she loved being a part of the El Riad Shrine family.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Tom, of Sioux Falls, SD; two children, Kevin (Alyssa) Johnson and Elizabeth "Betzi"(Josh Plucker) Johnson, both of Sioux Falls, SD; her father, Ron Markman, Brewster, MN; a brother, Phil (Peggy) Markman, Jackson, MN; two sisters, Sonja Sletto and Sandi (Bruce) Heidemann, all of Sioux Falls, SD; two brother-in-laws, Greg (Joanne) Johnson, St. Cloud, MN, Ted (LuAnne) Johnson, Rapid City, SD; three sister-in-laws, Connie Wahlstrom (Jack Johnson), Surprise, AZ, Jean (Dave) Lepper, Park Rapids, MN, Susan (Bob) Hanks, St. Cloud, MN; and longtime family friend, Kris (Mike) Westerbeck, Rapid City, SD; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Markman; her grandparents; and two brother-in-laws, Greg Sletto and Paul Reisdorfer.
