Gerald Wayne (Jerry) Kattke, 74, of Downers Grove, IL died on February 6, 2014. He was born in Sioux Falls, SD on September 11, 1939, the eldest son of Julius Kattke and Clara Trooien. He married Leslee Kremer of Sioux Falls on December 22, 1960; she died on February 3, 2003. He married Lynn Clark on June 6, 2009. Jerry is survived by his wife Lynn; sons Robert of Rolling Meadows and John (Barbara) of Woodridge; grandchildren Michele, Melissa, Claudia, and Jackson; and brothers Don (Kay) of Sioux Falls and Jim (Rosalind) of Minneapolis. After high school Jerry spent four years in the U. S. Air Force, then attended the University of Minnesota where he received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, all in Electrical Engineering. He finished his degree in 1970 and was then employed by AT&T Bell Laboratories (later Lucent Technologies) in North Andover, Massachusetts. In 1976 he was transferred to the Naperville, Illinois location where he worked until his retirement in 2001. After retirement he was an adjunct associate professor at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and led a local chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers for several years. He was an avid genealogist and worked as a volunteer helping other genealogists at the Naperville Family History Center for over twenty years. He was also one of the leaders of a local prostate cancer support group. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Unity Temple, 875 Lake Street, Oak Park, IL.
