Funeral Services for Joseph Stritecky age 88 will be Wednesday August 28 at 10 AM at the United Methodist Church in Winner, SD There will be a visitation on Tuesday evening at Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home in Gragory from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7PM.
Joseph Jerry Stritecky was born September 27, 1924 on a farm three miles northeast of Colome, SD and passed away August 23, 2013 at the Winner Nursing Home. Joe was the youngest of four children born to Joseph and Hattie (Kisulka) Stritecky.
In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. Joe was honorably discharged from military service in February 1946. In 1949 he purchased the family farm and married Frieda Karel the love of his life at the Colome United Methodist Church. They continued to live on the farm where their six children were born. In 1973 he began working for the South Dakota Department of Transportation. Joe and Frieda sold their farm in 1976.
Joe was an active member of the Colome United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Colome American Legion since 1945.
Grateful for having shared his life is his wife Frieda of 64 years; three sons, Ron (Sheila) of Wheatland, WY, Jerry of Salt Lake City, UT, and Tom (Becky) of Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters, Lori (Ken) Watson of Peoria, AZ and Nancy (Bill) Davies of Billings, MT; and nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
