Dr. Larry Williams

Dr. Larry Allen Williams went to be with the Lord early on the morning of Wednesday, July 3, 2013.

Larry was born to William N. Williams and Helen M. (Gould) Williams on March 21, 1932 in Rochester, MN. He spent his youth in Waterloo, IA. Following high school, Larry married Dorothy Newton on September 28,1952. They divorced in 1968. In 1951, Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged after four years. Following his discharge, Larry moved with his family to Forest Grove, OR, where he graduated from the Pacific University School of Optometry.

Larry relocated to Sioux Falls, SD where he established his practice of Optometry. He served this community for nearly 40 years. Larry also served his country with distinction as a member of the South Dakota Air National Guard retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Larry and Marilyn (Graff) were married in 1968.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, one infant son (Bryan Daniel), and his wife Marilyn in 2008 after nearly 40 years of marriage. He is survived by brothers Dr. M. Neil (Lilian) Williams and Mark (Roxanne) Williams; children Winston (Cathy) Williams, and Laura Kadlec; Grandchildren Amanda and Hannah Williams, Brandon (Susan) Kadlec, Blaine (Calli) Kadlec, Bjorn (Jenna) Kadlec and 5 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network for which Larry was a dedicated advocate.

Memorial services will begin 11:00 am Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service.
