Aberdeen, SD - Memorial service for Lyle Reinhold Stabbe, 72, of Aberdeen, will be 11:00 am, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kevin Bergeson will officiate.

Lyle passed away at his home on November 18, 2016.

Lyle Reinhold Stabbe was born in Eureka on July 17, 1944, to Albert and Hildegard (Walth) Stabbe. He attended grade school and high school in Hosmer, graduating in 1962. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Northern State College in May of 1966. He received a Master of Arts degree from the University of South Dakota in August of 1973 and was a member of the Pi Mu Epsilon National Honorary Mathematics Fraternity. Lyle was an athlete, participating in basketball and football in high school and track in both high school and college. He married Linda Mohr at St John's Lutheran Church in Hosmer on June 12, 1966.

Lyle taught math and coached at Kidder for two years and at Highmore for one year. He taught math and computer classes and was a coach and technology administrator at Tri-Valley High School, rural Colton, for 40 years from 1969 to 2009. Lyle and Linda lived in Lyons for 45 years and were members of West Nidaros Lutheran Church near Crooks. They moved to Aberdeen in 2014.

Lyle was an avid golfer, spending many hours on the golf course and playing in numerous tournaments. While living in Lyons, Lyle was a member of the Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids where he scored a hole-in-one on the 110-yard sixth hole. He enjoyed working in his yard and was an all around handyman.

He is survived by Linda, his wife of 50 years; two daughters, Lisa (Brent) Shafer, Victoria, MN, and Leila Stabbe, Minneapolis, MN; two granddaughters, Sidney and Allie Shafer; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Ronald.

Memorial donations may be made in Lyle's name to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or a .
