Marlys Williams Deming, 85, died May 19, 2013 at Bethesda of Beresford, SD. She was born on December 22, 1927 to the parents of Harry and Jennie Lodde. She grew up on her parent's farm in Davis, attended grade and high school in Centerville, and went on to Sioux Falls College where she earned her college degree in music. She met Keith, her husband of 26 years, during college and they were married on August 20, 1950. Keith and Marlys started their professional careers as teachers in Armour, SD. They later moved to Centerville where they owned and operated a men's clothing store.
Marlys was a loving mother of three and a devoted wife, daughter, and sister. She was an inspiration to all her family and friends. She loved to dance, play cards, boat, travel, and socialize. She was an active member and choir director for the Congregational Church in Centerville, and held numerous positions with Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Jennie, her husbands Keith Williams and Robert Deming and brother Dean Lodde.
She is survived by son Jeff Williams (Joni), West Des Moines, IA; daughter Joni Schempp (Rick), Alcester, SD; and son Kevin Williams, Bozeman, MT; grandchildren Nicholas Williams (Aly), West Des Moines, IA; Natalie Williams, NY, NY; Lindsey and Lexy Schempp, Sioux Falls, SD; great-grandchildren Beau and Nolan Williams. Stepchildren Tom Deming (Ann), Santee, CA; Dr. Richard Deming, Des Moines, IA; Harriett Baldwin (Ken), Mitchell, SD; step grandchildren Roby Deming (Rebecca), Alex Baldwin, Gina Mockler (Brett); step great grandchild Trevor Deming; and by nieces and many good friends.
The family would like to say thank you to the Inn on Westport, Sioux Falls, and the Bethesda Nursing Home, Beresford for the wonderful care given to Marlys during her stay.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 11AM Wednesday, May 22, at the Federated Church UCC, 700 Main Street, Centerville, SD. Visitation will be from 5-7PM Tuesday at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville. wassfuneralhome.com
