Mathilda Ann Mayrose, 96, of Salem passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Golden Living in Salem. Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 22 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem. Burial will follow at St. Mary's cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 am TODAY Wednesday with a Christian Mothers rosary at 3 pm at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. Family will be present from 6 - 8 pm.
Mathilda Hoffman was born to Michael and Margaret (Miller) Hoffman in Bridgewater, SD on April 25, 1917. She grew up in the Bridgewater area and attended school there. She married Roman Mayrose on June 28, 1950. She spent her time helping on the family farm and raising their children.
Tilly was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and belonged to the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening, especially working with her flowers. She especially loved spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Tilly is survived by: her children, Patricia (Darwin) Kreth of Mt. Vernon, Ronald (Vicky) Mayrose of Salem, Kathy (Neal) Myren of Salem, Gerald Mayrose of Salem, George (Brenda) Mayrose of Grand Junction, CO, and Jim (Katina) Mayrose of Oregon; two sisters, Loretta Heinricy of Madison and Cecelia Scholl of Brookings; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roman, and her brother, Al. www.kinzleyfh.com
