Neva Parisien

Neva Parisien, 74 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the Sanford Medical Center.

Neva Una Ness, daughter of Neil and Mildred (Fralick) Ness, was born on May 3, 1939, in Gann Valley, SD. She grew up there and received her education. She attended college in Wessington Springs, SD, and obtained her nursing degree. Neva then taught school in Chamberlin, SD.

Neva was united in marriage with Donald Parisien in 1963. They moved to Huron, SD, and began to raise a family. Neva remained at home as a homemaker until the kids were older. She took a position at FHA and later as a recruiter with Job Services. Neva moved to Sioux Falls in 1996 and took a position with Deals on Wheels until retiring in 2007.

Faithful and caring, Neva was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Huron and Asbury United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Her passions were quilting, sewing, and canning. She was a member of quilting guilds, Red Hat, Sorority, Church Circle, and loved making quilts for friends and family. Above all, she loved her children and grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children Dyle (Sandy) Parisien, Sioux Falls, SD, Dean (Kim) Parisien, Sioux Falls, SD, Doug (Becky) Parisien, Canistota, SD, Darla Zirpel, Sioux Falls, SD, Donya Parisien, Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren Dane (fiancée Jenny), Kory, Brittney, Bryton, Amber, Samantha, Hannah; great-grandchildren Xavier, Kiara, Wyatt; brothers Melvin Ness, Lake Preston, SD, Lyle (DeAnn) Ness, Huron, SD; sister-in-law Linda Ness, Kimball, SD; and many other relatives and friends.

Neva was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Odin, Einar, and LeRoy.

Visitation will begin at 12 pm with the family present from 5 to 7 pm and a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm on Monday, April 14, 2014, at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, SD, with burial at 2:30 pm at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Gann Valley, SD.
