Daryl Goetz

Daryl Duane Goetz passed on June 20, 2014 of lung disease. Daryl was born on September 27, 1950 to Raymond and Viola (Horst) Goetz of Java, SD. He graduated from Java High School in 1969 and then graduated two years later from College of Automation in Des Moines, Iowa with a computer programming degree.

It was in Des Moines that he met his wife of 41 years, Judy. They resided in Des Moines, and worked at CDS a magazine fulfillment company until 1984 when they relocated to Sioux Falls, SD for Daryl to work for Citibank, SD. He worked for Citi for 27 years as Vice President of Operations Change Control retiring in 2010 due to his health.

Daryl is survived by his wife Judy; two sons, Matthew of Sioux Falls; Marcus and daughter-in-law Angela and two grandchildren, Alexis and Bryson. He is survived by 5 brothers and sisters, Larry (Janice) Goetz of Springfield, SD, James (Penny) Goetz, Mobridge, SD, Susan (Bob) Schanzenbach of Tea, SD, Marilyn (Chris) Rogers of Des Moines, IA, and Richard Goetz of Indianola, IA; brother-in-law Norman (Peanie) Tucker, Dixon, IL and honorary sister and brother, Ron and Jerri McKinley. He is also survived by many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephew, cousins, and friends.

Daryl enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially coaching his son's teams. Hunting with his sons was a yearly event. Daryl and Judy enjoyed many trips on their Harley with family and friends. Family was extremely important to Daryl. Daryl and Judy hosted their Goetz family reunion for many years. Nieces and nephews always knew that Daryl was open to helping them succeed in any way he could help. He felt it was necessary to keep in touch with his large extended family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday June 28, at Miller West Funeral Chapel, 6200 W. 41st St. in Sioux Falls. www.millerfh.com
