Bill Lee Shatter, 71, passed away July 2, 2014 at Good Samaritan Village. He was born June 26, 1943 to Edith and Bill Shatter in Sioux Falls. He grew up on a farm south of Sioux Falls attending Harrisburg Schools. During his senior year the family moved near Hartford, SD. He graduated from Hartford High School.
He married Karma Wegner on June 3, 1977. They made their home in Sioux Falls. Bill did construction for many years. The last eleven years he worked for Minnehaha County retiring in October of 2013. Bill had varied hobbies. He enjoyed participating in many tractor pulls (lawn and garden) in South Dakota and Iowa. His graduating class celebrated 50 years in 2013 by having a float in Harford's Parade. Bill and Karma attended the Little G Expo in Dyersville, IA for several years. He also enjoyed wood working, taking care of his vegetable garden and reading.
Survivors include his wife, Karma, sister-in-law, Sharon Wold, brother-in-law, Winston (Helen) Wegner , 8 nieces and nephews, and other relative include Coral Shatter and Lois Shatter, his friends and his dog, Bear. Preceding him in death were his parents, Bill and Edie Shatter. Bill requested no services. www.heritagesfsd.com
