Arnie Juhler, 81, of Sioux Falls, died Friday, July 18, 2014 at Dougherty Hospice House.
Arnold Juhler was born November 28, 1932 in Cass County, Iowa. He grew up in the area and received his education in Elk Horn, IA where he graduated from High School. Following high school, he attended Iowa Teacher's College (now known as the University of Northern Iowa).
On June 23, 1966, he was united in marriage with Ellen O'Keefe at Seattle Washington while Arnie was serving in the Army near the end of the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Iowa where he completed his Bachelor's degree. The couple lived in Waterloo, IA, Mason City, IA, and Minneapolis, MN before settling in Sioux Falls, SD in 1963. In Sioux Falls, Arnie was the controlling auditor for Sears for several years. He later went into private bookkeeping practice for a number of years. More recently, he worked in the office at Rentschler's Standard Truck Plaza before again returning to private bookkeeping prior to his retirement.
For hobbies, Arnie enjoyed fishing, and simply being outdoors.
Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Angie Rabon, of Sioux Falls, SD; a son, Mike (Carla) Juhler of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Alyssa Juhler, Mattie Rabon, and Katelyn Juhler; and a great grandchild, Ethan Juhler. He is also survived by his brother, Howard Juhler of Marne, IA; a sister, Sharon Juhler of Des Moines, IA; and a sister-in-law, Judy Juhler, also of Des Moines.
In addition to his wife Ellen, who died on November 6, 2009, he was preceded in death by his brother, Orville Juhler; and an infant daughter, Patricia Juhler.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 am Wednesday at East Side Lutheran Church. Private interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, 507 S. Main Avenue.
The family requests that memorials be directed to East Side Lutheran Church.
