Donna Haffner

Sioux Falls, SD - Donna Haffner, 83, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at her residence in Sioux Falls, SD.

A visitation will be 2:00 pm Sunday, August 3, 2014, at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with the family present from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A funeral service will be 1:00 pm Monday, August 4, 2014 at Wild Flower Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Hills of Rest Memorial Park.

Donna Carsrud, the daughter of Carl and Stella (Dalen) Carsrud was born March 7, 1931, in Colton, SD. She graduated from Colton High School in 1949.

On June 29, 1951, Donna was united in marriage with Marvin Haffner in Luverne, MN. She worked at Laura B. Anderson Elementary School in Sioux Falls for many years, as a lunch aide, librarian aide, and a tutor of phonics. Donna also worked at Washington High School as a tutor.

Donna was a very active member of Wild Flower Presbyterian Church, including acting as choir director for 31 years, teaching Sunday and Bible School, and attending Bible Study. She was a member of the PTA and was heavily involved in her children's school activities throughout her life.

Donna was very talented musically. She played several instruments and even taught others to play as well. Donna loved to sing and also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, and creating various crafts.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Marvin; her children, Mary Tilden of Sioux Falls, Marvin (Reba) Haffner Jr. of Wesson, MS, Bobby Haffner of Sioux Falls, Becky (William) Money-penny of Michigan, Lisa Haffner Sternhagen of Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marlene Bunde of Sioux Falls; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.

The family has requested that memorials be directed to Wild Flower Presbyterian Church.
