Harry Vanderwerf, 82, Lennox, died Friday, Aug. 1 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls from acute leukemia. He was born in 1932 and grew up in southeastern South Dakota. In 1960 he married Betty Poppens. The couple farmed north of Lennox. He was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church, the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed working on cars. Survivors: wife, Betty, children David (Pamela), Wagner, Douglas (Linda), Tea, Kathryn Daggitt, Sioux Falls, Ronald, Sioux Falls; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; siblings: Sam, Harrisburg, John, Canton, Lena (Alvin) Brower, Atwater, MN, Annie (Paul) DeYoung, Sioux Falls, Shirley Nelson, Sioux Falls, Alice Fluit, Sioux Falls and Mary (Mike) VanDekieft, Canton; sister-in-law, Marlys Vanderwerf, Sioux Falls. Services will begin 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 at Faith Presbyterian Church, Lennox. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at Dindot-Klusmann Funeral Home, Lennox with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Lymphoma/Leukemia Society.
