Delila Goodroad passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Center on North Minnesota Avenue on Tuesday, February 5, 2013.
Delila Maxine Boettcher, daughter of Mary (Dixon) Boettcher and George Boettcher, was born October 14, 1927 at Lyman, South Dakota. She attended country grade school there until 1941. She then moved with her family to Bruce, South Dakota where she finished grade school and graduated from Bruce High School in 1946.
Delila married Duane Goodroad on December 3, 1946. They lived for a short time in Brookings, South Dakota and then moved to Sioux Falls in 1951. She worked as a bookkeeper for several years. She enjoyed working on ceramics and crafts. She was a loving grandmother. Delila was a member of East Side Presbyterian Church and VFW Post 628 Auxiliary.
Grateful for sharing her life are her son, Jerry and his wife, Cathy of New River, Arizona , her daughter, Sherry, and her husband, Marlin Beers, of Lake Wilson, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Shannon, Jennifer and Jeffery; six great grandchildren, Brittani, Tommie Sue, Cole, Ellie, Anna and Adriana and several nieces and nephews.
Delila was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Boettcher; her husband, Duane Goodroad; two sisters, Mary Jane Moke and June Albers and four brothers, Lloyd, Gaylord, Arnold and Donald Boettcher.
Visitation will be 11-1 pm Friday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with a service at 1 pm. Committal services will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
