Florene Grenz, age 90, went to her heavenly home on April 6, 2013.
Florene (Smith) Grenz was born on January 24, 1923 to Gordon and Ida (Swander) Smith near Covert, KS, the oldest of 5 children.
She met Raymond Grenz while working as a Western Union as a teletype operator in Hastings, NE. during World War II. They were married on December 9, 1945 and traveled with a construction company until settling in Sioux Falls, SD in 1951.
Florene was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She worked as a church secretary for over 20 years at the First Assembly of God Church to four pastors before retiring in 1988. In 2006, she moved to Baxter/Brainerd, MN to be near her oldest daughter. She moved to an assisted living facility in 2010 and was there until her death on April 6, 2013.
Florene was preceded in death by her son, Kevin, her husband, and her brother, Earl Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Beva (Lewis) Olson and Marla (Dan) Goucher; grandchildren Bryce Olson, Shelley (Dan) Eigen and Ryan Olson; great grandchildren Cameron Olson, Alexandra, Elizabeth and Mac Eigen and brothers Eldon, Eldred and Duane Smith, brother-in-law Ralph (Uda) Grenz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be present to greet friends for visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
