Dorothy Ann Danielson, age 83, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at her home in Sioux Falls. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. The family will be present to greet friends for visitation beginning at 5:00 PM on Monday, July 15 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls with Liturgical Wake service beginning at 7:00 PM followed by the Holy Rosary.
Dorothy Ann Danielson was born on February 16, 1930 in Waterbury, Nebraska to Gustaf and Josephine Pansegrau. When she was two years old, the family moved to Parkston, South Dakota following the death of her father. Dorothy graduated from Parkston High School before attending Notre Dame Jr. College in Mitchell, South Dakota from 1951-1952. On May 6, 1954, Dorothy married Glen Danielson in Parkston, SD. The couple made their home on a farm near Centerville, South Dakota. In 1961, they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dorothy began working in the records department at the Sioux Falls Police Department in 1964 and continued working until her retirement in 1993.
Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for more than 50 years and had recently joined St. Michael Catholic Church. She enjoyed cross stitching, working in the yard, visits from her great grandchildren, the lake home on Lake Herman and vacationing in Branson, Missouri for the last 18 years. She was also a member of St. Ann's Cathedral Group and was a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Wayne (Karen) Danielson of Dell Rapids, SD, Marie Heimdal of Canton, SD, and Nancy (Patrick) Shannon of Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren, Wayne Danielson, Jr., Rick (Angela) Danielson, Jonathon (Ashlee) Danielson, Glenda Danielson, Justin (Sandy) Heimdal, Chad Shannon, and Jordan Shannon; seven great grandchildren; brother, Gus (Bonnie) Pansegrau of Parkston; step brother, Nick Labor of Parkston; sister-in-law, Violet Geveshausen of Beresford, SD; many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; parents; sister Fern (Jack) Trierweiler; son-in-law, Richard Heimdal; granddaughter-in-law, Jamie Shannon; sister-in-law, Mildred (Verle) Mossifin; brothers-in-law, Melvin (Arlene) Danielson and Earl Geveshausen.
