Loraine Engquist Obituary

Loraine Engquist

Loraine Marie Engquist passed away peacefully on March 20, 2014 at the age of 86 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota after a courageous battle with cancer. In her words, "my wings carry me home." She is now in the loving arms of her husband of 64 years, Earl.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Carol Engquist, of Sioux Falls, SD; her daughter Susan (Engquist) Maisonet of El Segundo, CA; and four grandchildren Jennifer (Corey) Ferrie, Boise, ID; Molly Engquist (Karrisa Brown) of Sioux Falls; James Engquist (Jayden Portice) of Sioux Falls; and Tiffany Maisonet of El Segundo; two sisters, Lois (Ole) Gjerald, Faribault, MN; Karen (Gary) Jackson, Plymouth, MN; and brother Bob Erickson, Kaukauna, WI. She also leaves so many wonderful family members and dear friends.

Loraine Erickson was born in Duluth, Minnesota on September 10, 1927. She grew up in Minnesota and on July 11, 1947 she married the love of her life, Earl Engquist. They moved to El Segundo, in 1953. Many happy years were spent in El Segundo raising their children, making many wonderful friends, and traveling the world in part thanks to her working for Continental Airlines. In 1987 they retired and spent time seeing much of this country and making friends along the way in their RV. They eventually settled in Florida. Loraine was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 5 brothers.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Minnesota. The family has requested that memorials be directed to Camp del Corazon, a summer camp for children with heart disease. Campdelcorazon.org
