Jamie Lynn Black, born April 16, 1958, went to be with her Savior on February 9, 2013 after a valiant, eight-year battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her children, Jonathan Michael Badeaux and wife Tara, Geoffrey Matthew Badeaux, Leslie Michelle Badeaux, and Melissa Catherine Badeaux; brothers Craig Black, Bill Wells and wife Bobbie; father James Black and wife Betty Phelps. Jamie was employed by Humble ISD as a Special Education teacher where she was awarded Teacher of the Year at Kingwood Middle School. She spent 25 years fulfilling her dream to educate and inspire children in Louisiana and Texas. She was an active member of Kingwood United Methodist Church. Her involvement included Sola Gratia Women's Choir, Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, UM ARMY, and many other activities. She worked as a Director at Kids in Action for over 15 years. She hosted two foreign exchange students from Poland and Brazil. Jamie was avid seamstress, enjoyed working outside and thoroughly enjoyed swimming, rowing, and yoga. She traveled through Europe with her family and loved spending time at the beach. Jamie's greatest joys were her four children and community involvement. Donations may be made in Jamie's honor to the Kingwood United Methodist Church Choir or Humble Rotary.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Kingwood United Methodist Church, Kingwood, Texas.
