NELSONVILLE - Larry Lee Monk, 75, of Nelsonville passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Ohio Health O'Bleness Hospital in Athens. He was born April 21, 1941, in Athens County, son of the late Cecil and Mary Katherine Adams Monk.
Larry was a retired lineman for General Electric and later, Verizon Wireless. He was a former council member for the city of Nelsonville and was a member of the Nelsonville Elks and Logan Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Natalee (George "Bud") Brobst of Groveport; grandchildren, Chance Holley and Jennifer Vance; sisters, Sheila Shorr of Columbus and Noreen Lahrmer of Ravenna, Kentucky; special friend, Jeanie Perry of Nelsonville; former wife, Linda Wineland of Groveport; nieces and nephews and beloved dog "Dolly."
An Elks service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

My yearly visits back to my home town of Nelsonville will never by the same without being able to spend time with Larry Monk. He was a solid friend and classmate for many years. A loss of a very dear friend.
