EDWARDS, Gladys Gladys Lorene Rakestraw Edwards, 95 Died Feb. 16, 2013 at the Penobscot Nursing Home, Penobscot, Maine. She was born Sept. 4, 1917 in Dallas, GA to Jessie Shipp and Irvin Rakestraw. She graduated from McEachern School in Powder Springs, GA Prior to moving to Maine, she resided in Powder Springs, GA. She devoted her life to Christ and to being a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, photography and writing poems and short stories. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Leon Edwards Sr., Sister Irene Kemp and her husband John, Daughter-in-law Denise Edwards and son's-in-law Arlis Purser and Danny Powell. She is survived by her children Gail Edwards Hutchinson and husband Ron, Jan Powell-Purser and Robert Leon Edwards Jr. Grandchildren Jerri Brewer Reynolds and husband Ken, Conni Brewer Lofdahl and husband Will, Steve Brewer, Virgil Purser and wife Barbara, Phil Purser, Eric Edwards and Kelly Edwards Heinz. Step-Grandchildren Michelle Herrick, Scott Hutchinson and wife Jen, Keith Hutchinson and wife Amber and their families. Great Grandchildren Jessi, Nat, Billy, Chris, Katie, Megan, Justin, Everett, Landon, Caleb, Cooper, Madison, Kayla and Lee. Great-Great grandchildren Morgan and Kaylin. Visitation from 6:00 -8:00 PM on Sunday Feb. 24th at Bellamy Funeral Home Powder Springs. Chapel Service 3:00 PM Monday Feb. 25th, 2013. Burial at Bullard Cemetery. www.bellamyfuneralhomes.com
