CORGAN, Kristin Ruth* - Marietta
CORGAN, Kristin Ruth On October 3rd 1968, Francis and Vivian Corgan welcomed into the world a daughter with a heart of gold, a smile bright as sunshine and talents that would touch the world in ways that all parents dream of and they would name her, Kristin Ruth Corgan. As a lover of people, dogs, travel, and the New York Jets she would tackle the world with zest and fill it with her laughter. She knew from an early age that she would follow in her father's footsteps and dedicate her professional life to caring for others. As Kristin studied hard and excelled scholastically, she discovered her forte was surgery. She was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and received her Medical Degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Kristin Corgan completed her surgical residency at Waterbury Hospital/Yale University in Connecticut. During this time she also discovered the love of her life, Thaddeus Fabian. After completing training she settled into Marietta, Georgia, with her partner in life by her side, and the intent to eliminate breast cancer one brave patient after another. For the last 18 years, Dr. Kristin Corgan has served this community with superior talents and knowledge that have touched an innumerable amount of people. She was a diplomate of The American Board of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She was on the National Teaching Faculty of both The American College of Surgeons and The American Society of Breast Surgeons. She was active in educating surgeons across the country in advanced, minimally invasive techniques in breast surgery. Dr. Corgan was very active in the local medical community and served as a Board Member of the Cobb County Medical Society. Additionally, she served as Secretary of the Medical Executive Committee for the medical staff of Kennestone Hospital and was President in 2008. She also served on the Medical Care Evaluation Committee and the Cancer Committee at Kennestone Hospital. She established Georgia Breast Care in 2005. It is the construct of a brilliantly determined woman but was developed from her heart and fostered into a haven for those seeking her compassionate and detail oriented care. After dedicating her life to helping her courageous patients battle against breast cancer, she too, was personally faced with the challenge. On April 23, 2015, Kristin dauntlessly joined her father and beloved poodle, Tiffany, in heaven. Her adoring husband, Dr. Thaddeus Fabian and many family and friends surrounded her. To say she was loved is an understatement. Though she will be missed dearly, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those she has touched. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Dr. Kristin Corgan to one of two very important causes to her - a breast cancer foundation and a pet rescue organization. Loving Arms Cancer Outreach: Online at www.lovingarms.support or by phone: 770-590-5153. Atlanta Pet Rescue and Adoption: Online at www.atlantapetrescue.org or by phone 404-815-6680 ext. 210. Dr. Kristin Ruth Corgan is survived by husband, Thaddeus Fabian of Marietta, Ga; their cherished poodle, Harrison; mom, Vivian Corgan of Tallahasee, FL; sister, Sharon Weeden, spouse, Dave Weeden, nephew, Christopher Weeden, niece, Emily Weeden all of Tallahassee, FL; brother, James Corgan, spouse Debby Corgan, niece, Madison Corgan, nephew, Jayce Corgan, niece, Caroline Corgan, nephew, Samuel Corgan; and brother, Timothy Corgan. The viewing will be held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta on Saturday and Sunday from 4pm until 7pm. A Memorial Service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta on Monday at 11:00am. Visitation and Reception directly to follow funeral services at the Marietta Hotel and Convention Center's Hamilton's Restaurant. All events open to all. www.mayeswarddobbins.com 770-428-1511

CROSLAND, William A.* - Sandy Spgs
CROSLAND, William A. Rev. William Alexander Crosland Ordained Minister Honorably Retired Anyone who ever received an email, letter or business card from Reverend William A. Crosland (Bill) would see his tag line "Ordained Minister ยท Honorably Retired." No doubt his use of this phrase stemmed from his love of the Presbyterian Church which he served for almost 50 years, first as a pastor and later as a campaign consultant for the Church Financial Campaign Service. Bill also laid claim to being honorably retired after 27 years of service in the Chaplain Corps of the U.S. Naval Reserve in which he held the rank of Captain. Bill served as a pastor to churches in Fairfield, AL; New Orleans, LA; Austin, TX; Vidalia, GA; Laurel, MS; Buford, GA; and Atlanta, GA. Bill died April 19th 2015 in his home in Sandy Springs, GA. A memorial service will be held at Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta on Sunday, May 3rd at 2:00 PM. Born March 1st 1928 in Atlanta, GA to William Alexander and Dell Owen Crosland, Bill grew up in the Virginia Highlands neighborhood. After graduating from Boys High School in Atlanta, Bill earned an undergraduate degree in English from Davidson College (A.B. Cum Laude, 1949) and received a Master of Divinity (Cum Laude, 1952) from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. Additional graduate work was completed in 1972 at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Interdenominational Theological Center, and Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA. He was active in the Kiwanis Club (past president of the Buford chapter), and in the Davidson College Alumni Association. Bill loved music which included playing the French horn, and singing in the Davidson Male Chorus, the Gwinnett Choral Guild and the Central Presbyterian Church choir. Bill, also fondly known as Daddy Bill, is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte Allsmiller Crosland. He is also survived by his children, Bill Crosland, Ed Crosland, David Crosland, Dudley Crosland and Catherine Crosland Leiner, 9 grandchildren and his sister Audrey Joyce Crosland Hammond. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Central Presbyterian Church Music and Liturgical Arts Fund ( www.cpcatlanta.org ). Online condolences may be made at hmpattersonspringhill.com .
