LAWRENCE, Roger* - Smyrna
LAWRENCE, Roger Emory Roger Emory Lawrence, 61, of Marietta, GA passed away peacefully at home on September 25th, 2016. He grew up in Cherokee County and was a true rebel spirit from a young age. He lived his life by his own set of rules and was unapologetically authentic. Those who knew Roger experienced his effortless comedic timing, his razor sharp wit and sarcasm. His mind was uniquely beautiful and brilliant. He loved his Georgia Bulldogs and the Blues but there was nothing he loved more than his family. Family was everything to Roger, and to his family, he was everything. Roger is survived by his loving wife Laurie "Chicklet" of 21 years, son Jason "The Beef" Lawrence, daughter Jennifer "Jenny Pops" (John) Shapard, son Jesse "June Bug" (Sarah) Holbrook, brother Terry (Dianna) Lawrence and two grandchildren Reese and Cooper Holbrook. We will celebrate the life of Roger on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Carmichael Funeral Home, 2950 King Street, Smyrna, 30080. Visitation is from 10am-12pm with funeral service immediately following. Burial at Georgia Memorial Cemetery.

LOSHAK, Sara* - Atlanta
LOSHAK, Sara Patlis Sara Patlis Loshak born August 14, 1923 passed away peacefully at her home in Naples, Florida September 25, 2016. Sara was born and raised in New York City, the fourth of five children and the daughter of Joe and Rebecca Patlis. At the age of 19, she met the love of her life Nathan Loshak and spent almost sixty years together until his death in 2002. After Nate served in WWII, Nate and Sara had their first child Leda before embarking on a new adventure in Minneapolis/ St. Paul where their second daughter Susan was born. In the mid 1950's Sara and Nate and their young family moved to Baltimore where their youngest son Joel was born. Sara and Nate moved to Atlanta in the late fifties and spent the next 11 years there where Sara decided to go to work and get a degree in education at Georgia State. By the time they moved to Austin, Texas, Sara was able to complete her degree at the University of Texas. She continued by obtaining her Masters degree in education after moving to Chicago. While substitute teaching, Nate and Sara moved once again to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Sara taught for the next fifteen-twenty years in special education before finishing her professional career. Sara and Nate had many wonderful years in Tulsa where they made many lifelong wonderful friends. They retired to the Naples, Florida area to be closer to family and friends. Sara and Nate loved to travel and even after being diagnosed with cancer in 1985, she was determined not to let it slow down her life. She continued to travel extensively even after Nate's death playing bridge with her close friends at Arbor Trace in Naples. She loved seeing a movie, reading a book, challenging you to a game of Scrabble or going to a cultural scene with her friends whether it was the opera, museum or a good play. Sara led an active life and continued to take classes at the university up until her death. Sara Loshak is survived by her sister Iris Levine, sister-in-law, Judy Kaplan, children: Leda and Jack Zbar, Susie and Bruce Golubock, Joel and Mindy Loshak; grandchildren: Beth and Michael Marks, Stephanie Footer and husband, Luke Warren; Clay and Shari Zbar, Andrew and Martha Golubock, Wendy and Brad Weissman, Lauren and Clark Edlund, Brandon and Viviana Loshak and ten great grandchildren.
