Agnes Allen


Family-Placed Death Notice

Mrs. Agnes Burns Allen, 92, formerly of 50 Mt. Paran Rd. N.E., Atlanta, died peacefully March 2, 2006 at a nursing facility in Rome, Georgia after a long illness. Mrs. Allen was born March 19, 1913, to the late Wyly Cicero Burns and the late Fannie Bertha Lowry Burns in Walker County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Allen, Sr., three brothers, Jerimiah Burns of La Fayette, Bob Burns of Royston, and O.C. Burns of Atlanta; and recently by her daughter-in-law Margie Randall Allen of Sandy Springs. Mrs. Allen was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Young Harris College and subsequently was a fourth grade teacher. Her special interests included flower arranging and gardening. She was a member of The Garden Club of Georgia and a founding member of the Franklinia Garden Club. She was a prolific reader. Survivors include sons, C. Daniel Allen Jr., M.D. of Sandy Springs and William B. Allen, M.D. of Rome; Daughter-in-law Barbara Allen of Rome; three grandchildren Charles Daniel Allen III, and his wife Tiffany Hodges Allen of Atlanta, Cathy Radcliff and her husband Self Radcliff of Mobile, Chrissie Kirila and her husband Maj. Robert Kirila of Dupont, Washington. Mrs. Allen was blessed with five great grandchildren, Webb, Callie, and Margaret Radcliff, and Mia and Lily Kirila. A memorial service will be held at Sandy Springs Chapel Monday, March 6, at 11:00 a.m. After the service, the family will greet friends at the chapel.
