Family-Placed Death Notice

MANNING, Annie Florence Annie Florence Manning, age 97 and an Alpharetta native, died November 10, 2012. Florence was born on September 29, 1915 in the Manning homestead on Academy Street, to Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Manning. She graduated from Young Harris College and the University of Georgia to become a teacher in Fulton County School System for 35 years. Florence was a life-long Georgia Tech football fan and a long-time member of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, where she taught bible classes. Florence was known for her spiffy dress and loved the Alpharetta bargain stores. She also visited the holy land on many occasions, which was the highlight of her life. Florence was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Frank Manning, Sim Manning, Lucy Manning, Macy Wallace, and Polly Manning. She is survived by her brother, Dr. James H. Manning and his wife Pellie, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 13 at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at Alpharetta Cemetery. Ms. Manning will lie in state in the church sanctuary beginning at 1:00 PM on Tuesday. The Manning family will receive friends at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors in Roswell on Monday, November 12 from 4:00 - 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her honor can be made to Alpharetta First United Methodist Church.
