TRUNDLE, Sr., Archie Archie F. Trundle, Sr. Archie F. Trundle, Sr., 89, peacefully died of natural causes on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Southwest Christian Care Hospice in Union City, GA. Archie was born on January 3, 1924 in Chattanooga, TN to Irvin and Leila Eubanks Trundle. After growing up in Chattanooga and Woodstation, GA, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps
in May 1941, valiantly serving during World War II
as a Gunnery Sergeant who braved direct enemy fire as an Amphibian Tractor driver during three major Pacific Island invasions: Marshall Islands, Guam and Okinawa. On December 24, 1945, Archie married Joyce Inez Liner of Chattanooga, TN. In their sixty-seven years of marriage Archie and Joyce were blessed with four children: Karen D. Trundle Shires of Lilburn, GA, Archie F. (Buddy) Trundle, Jr. of Hapeville, GA, Teresa L. (Terri) Trundle Jackson of Fayetteville, GA, and Christa F. Trundle Dierckman of Roswell, GA; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Archie was active in his church, community affairs and U.S. Marine Corps organizations. He was also a lifetime member of Chattanooga's Masonic Lodge and Shrine Temple. Archie retired from Joe Powell and Associates, a leading provider of mechanical and electrical systems used by major corporations. He also worked several years in the commercial printing industry. A Hapeville visitation is set for Thursday, April 25th, 5pm-8pm, at Hapeville's Donehoo-Lewis Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26th at 2pm, at Christian City's Welcome Center Chapel, 7345 Red Oak Road, Union City, GA. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 2pm funeral service. His burial service will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA on Monday, April 29th at 11am, family and friends are to assemble at the Welcome Center by 10:45. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Hapeville First United Methodist Church, 3510 Atlanta Avenue, Hapeville, GA 30354 (404-762-9677) or the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (760-725-3680).
