WAID, Barbara BARBARA FOLKER WAID Barbara Folker Waid, 71, of Acworth, died Sunday, October 13, 2013. A Graveside Service will be held, Thursday, 2:00 p.m. (Central Time), at Rock Creek Church of God, 1001 Park Rd., Bessemer, AL 35023. Barbara Folker Waid was an Orlando girl who relocated to Tallahassee in the mid-1950s, where she attended Leon High School, and later the University of Florida. After summer intern work with the State Department of Florida, she attended Trans World Airlines training in Kansas City, MO. After various positions with the company in Philadelphia, PA and Fort McClellan, AL, she met her husband of 41 years. After the birth of daughter Courtney in November of 1974, the family relocated to Richmond, VA in 1976. She enjoyed many years volunteering her time with Virginia Swimming during her daughter Courtney's participation in the sport. In 1992, she relocated to Cobb County, GA where she became active in local needlepoint and embroidery guilds. She was a 28 year cancer survivor. Survived by her husband, William "Whitey" Waid of Acworth, GA; two daughters, Courtney Waid-Lindberg and husband, Christopher, of Fargo, N.D., Casey Waid of Frisco, TX; one son, Mark Waid of Los Angeles, CA; three grandsons, Matthew Lindberg, David Lindberg, Aaron Lindberg, all of Fargo, N.D.
