Family-Placed Death Notice
Charles L. Adamson died August 23, 2007 at Hospice LaGrange, following a long illness that began when he fell and suffered a brain injury while on his morning walk. A native of Atlanta, he attended Boys High and graduated Bass High School. Upon return from active duty in the Navy, he graduated Georgia State University. He received his doctorate degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. Dr. Adamson practiced in Atlanta for 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Ann Lenhardt Adamson. Married in 1953 at Epworth UMC, they lived in Candler Park and Druid Hills almost all their lives. He had been a member of Fernbank Museum, Zoo Atlanta, Druid Hills Golf Club and Druid Hills Civic Association. He was a long-time volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He and his parents, the late Willis Henton and Mona Styles Adamson, were funding members of Lake Claire Baptist Church. He was a life member of Georgia Chiropractic Association. He and Ann moved to Vernon Woods Retirement Community in LaGrange in 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Evon and Styles; in-laws, Ed Lenhardt, Charlie and Adeline Foster and sister-in-law, Brenda Lenhardt. Other survivors are their daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren, Lisa and Steve Bell and Steve Jr., John and David of Charlotte, NC and Alis and Dale Albritton and Chris, Sara and Rebecca of LaGrange; brothers, Savoy and Bill (Pat) Adamson; brother-in-law, Richard Lenhardt; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Striffler Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange. There will be a memorial service Sunday at 3 p.m. in Atlanta at Epworth UMC, 1561 McLendon Ave. Family will receive friends in the parlor at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
